Manually download & install ReaderPlates on the Sony PRS-505 (Windows):
While our Installer is the preferred method for updating, it's always good to have a backup plan. If necessary, Reader Plates can also be downloaded and installed manually by following these step-by-step instructions.

Click the link below for the cycle you wish to install onto your reader.

- Once the download is complete, open the downloaded .ZIP file (by double-clicking its icon in Windows.)
- Select all of the folders in the ZIP file ("ReaderPlates" and "Sony Reader") with your mouse clicking "Edit" on the menu bar, and choosing "Select All".
- Copy both folders to the clipboard by again clicking "Edit" on the menu bar, then choose "Copy" from the menu.
- Connect your Sony Reader to your computer with a USB cable. Follow the instructions that came with your Sony Reader.
- Select "My Computer", then choose the second drive letter for your Sony Reader if you're using a Memory Stick, or the third drive letter if your using an SD card. It will be listed as a "Removable Disk".
- Select 'Edit' on the menu bar of your Sony Reader window, and choose 'Paste' to write the copied folders to your memory card. If prompted to overwrite files, select "Yes to All".
Once writing is complete, the memory card folder tree should look something like this (possibly with a few extra folders or files), and all of our books should be in the "ReaderPlates" folder.- Disconnect your reader and wait a minute or two while it reindexes all of the files. Then press and hold the "Menu" button for five seconds to display the root menu. Press button "5" for "Collections". And you should see the first page of a 50 state menu, plus a few extra items.
